It’s not a man’s world: Shilpi Sharma


Remember Shilpi Sharma? She was last seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’. The pretty actress rose to instant fame with the controversial movie ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’, opposite Sunny Deol. The sexy lady succesfully dabbles in a lot of different things. As she rightly says, ‘it’s not a man’s world anymore’.

A successful face in ad commercials, Bollywood & a thriving DJ, Shillpi Started her career with TV commercials for brands like HSBC, McDonalds, and Park Avenue & has been a face for the leading soap brand ‘Pears’ for over five years. She has also done a sizzling music video for UNIVERSAL with Harry Anand and she is also a successful DJ.

Despite many apprehensions from her family, Shillpi makes people groove to her music at various clubs across the country. She says, “Yes, they (parents) were reluctant, who wouldn’t be? But now they believe in me. Moreover, they have faith in me…my confidence has brought me to this position. I am happy juggling my life between acting & Disc Jockeying.”

Shillpi, while talking about her career choices and decisions, says, “I think the girl who is able to earn her own living and pay her own bills should be happy. The sense of independence and security is very sweet & I have tasted the sweet fruits of my decisions.”

She further adds, “My acting & DJing are my identity. I want to give away the message that follow your heart and be what you want to be. It is never too late.”

Her genre of music is deep house, commercial and Bollywood, and Shillpi single handedly turns the humble dance floor into worshipping grounds for music lovers.

With much practice and perseverance from the day she first dropped the needle on a record, she has flawlessly mastered her own technique & carved a name for herself in this male-dominated industry.

Talking about her belief in herself & the choices she made for herself she says, “The emerging woman will be strong-minded, strong-hearted and strong-bodied. Most importantly,  strength and beauty must go together.”
